Introduction

R aksha Bandhan celebrates the relationship between a brother and a sister and symbolises a brother's pledge to protect his sister forever. In advance of this special day, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India has placed billboards in Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Bhopal Chandigarh, Kanpur, Patna, and Pune featuring a cow proclaiming, "Protect Me - Go Leather-Free."

Campaign Details

Executed by Media Ant, landmark sites have been taken into consideration for the campaign in each city. The campaign is aimed at maximizing reach to its core target audience being present at high traffic areas in each city. PETA India notes that synthetic leather and other animal-friendly options are available at nearly every major shoe and clothing shop in the country. The group - whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to wear" - opposes speciesism, which is a human-supremacist worldview.

Key Quote

"Cows, like us, are made of flesh and blood, feel pain and fear, desire freedom, love their families, have unique personalities, and value their lives," says PETA India Campaigns Coordinator Radhika Suryavanshi. "Cows are our sisters under the skin, and they deserve our protection. They're not shoes, bags, or belts - they're living, feeling beings, just like me and you."

"This was a special campaign for us especially from the point of view of the message. We have displayed exceptional planning expertise and efficiency in identifying, selecting and evaluating the OOH Media formats to achieve the campaign objectives as well as ensure TG connect with the core brand communication," says Media Ant Spokesperson.
