Media Owners Of Delhi Are Taken Aback By The Arbitrary Action Of MCD!

Bureau, New Delhi

After nearly 200 Hoardings at Varanasi that came under the axe recently, it was time for the National capital's plight.

Media owners in the capital are fuming over MCD's decision to demolish multiple display units belonging to Delhi Street Furniture without any orders or warnings. It is disheartening to see such autocratic behaviour by the MCD officials in the capital city. Such arbitrary and illegal action by the law makers themselves continues to hamper not just the OOH business but, also confidence of the clients on this medium.

"As it takes a lot of efforts for the Industry to get a decent share of the Advertising pie by the marketers and, an impulsive action like this hinders not just the business but puts a question mark on the legality of legally tendered media also. We are completely at loss on how to work in such situation, where personal agenda of a few officials, weighs more than the law of the land", said Mr Atul Shrivastava, Group CEO, Laqshya Media Group.

The Industry today, is a 3000 crore + size generating employment across skills and still it battle everyday with these regulations that restrict our growth. What was surprising is that the MCD team that came equipped with JCB machines to demolish the media had not a single written order or relevant documents for the action. Whereas, Laqshya representatives had all legal papers and documents related to the Delhi Street Furniture handy.

Laqshya Media has as well put up the case with the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation, which awarded this Tender in 2010. Laqshya is also moving to the Court against the erring officials of the Municipal Corporation, present during the demotion drive.
