Auto Rickshaws: No longer just a transport option

Newspapers, television, radio and out-of-home (OOH) are the traditional options available to advertisers to promote their products. The out of home industry in India is picking up speed. Innovations and new technologies are driving the industry today. The new addition in the list of innovations is auto rickshaw advertising.

MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) has realized the fact that the property can be used as a medium, not only for carrying passengers, but also advertisers’ messages. Thus, MCD has legalized this medium and Plannet Media; a Delhi based outdoor media company, has initiated to convert auto rickshaws into “moving billboards”.

Confirming the development, Divyansh, Plannet Media, told allaboutoutdoor, “Advertising on auto-rickshaw’s has just been legalized by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (M.C.D.) and we have initiated this change to put advertisements on auto rickshaws. There are two prime spots for advertisement- behind the driver seat (size 9’*6’) and the back panel and three sides (size 96’*24’).”

Sharing the benefits of this medium, Swati, Plannet Media said, “As Rickshaws ply everywhere around the city, it ensures that your ad is noticed almost everywhere on main thoroughfares, lanes and alleys, crossroads and at traffic signals. Also, the message stands a good chance on an average of 18 hours of exposure everyday as each rickshaw travels about 100-200kms a day.”
