An EL Slimlite is essentially a capacitor structure with phosphor dielectric sandwiched between two electrodes, one of which is transparent allowing light to pass through. Application of voltage through a controller across the electrodes generates a changing electric field which causes the phosphor to emit light. This entire source is less than 0.4mm thick. |
